Sunday School
St Magnus has an excellent Sunday school that runs during the family Eucharist service from 10.45- 11.45 throughout the local school terms. This is open to all children.
Sunday school creates a moral foundation stone for our children. This is becoming increasingly important in our secular and multicultural society.
The Sunday school runs on the "Godly Play" syllabus.
This is very popular with children and their parents alike!
Each family service opens with the children participating in the service for a short duration and being addressed by Fr Keith. The children process out to class during the first hymn.
In addition to the syllabus our children attend Communion and receive a blessing from the officiating officer each service.
The children work on projects according to the Christian calendar and make presentations to the rest of the congregation. They are keen and quick learners and have suprised the Bishop ('Bob') with the variety of their responses.
We are looking forward to the childrens Nativity on the 14th of December!
For younger children, we have a Childrens' Corner at the rear of the Church with toys and books to entertain all-comers.
Each year, the Church holds a Christmas party in conjunction with St Margarets Roman Catholic Church, Lerwick. This year we are looking forward to this being at the Isleburgh Centre, Lerwick, with the additional chaos and fun provided by the bouncy castle!
The Sunday School celebrates the birthdays of all it's attending children, the end of the school year and Christmas.
